Moong sprouts are quite low in calories but rich in quality nutrients. Sprouts (or sprouted moong beans) are known to be quite healthy, a powerhouse of antioxidants, and a top way to keep unwanted hunger pangs away.

Sprouts are plant-based protein sources that are also filled with dietary fiber. This is why sprouts are great for weight loss. They help improve satiety, keep one away from binge eating, and further add to the daily protein requirement.

Filled with fiber

100 grams of sprouts has 1.8 g of fiber. Fiber provides satiety (the feeling of fullness) and supports reducing food intake. It also helps you reduce weight by lowering your appetite

Low in calories

Sprouts are quite low in calories. 100 g of sprouts has just 30 kcal of energy. Since they are low in calories, so one can indulge in cooked or raw sprout salad to curb their hunger pangs and fill up their stomach.

High in protein

Raw and lightly cooked sprouted grains are a good source of plant-based protein. Moong sprouts are an especially top source of protein. Moong sprouts has extra proteins the sprouting enhances the availability of proteins. For instance, on sprouting, the protein content of moong grows by 30%, i.e., 100 gm of unsprouted moong has 24.9 gm protein, but while sprouting it goes to 32 gm.

Low in fat

Eating moong sprout salad for breakfast or lunch is extremely beneficial in providing satiety and promoting weight loss. Sprouts are low in fat. Food items that are low in calories and fat and rich in fiber have been found to decrease body weight as per studies.

Control hunger pangs

Including moong sprouts in your daily diet helps you control those dreaded hunger pangs and fills your stomach for longer. One study done in the US found that foods that are rich in nutrients, particularly fiber, fill up your stomach for longer and curb unwarranted food intake.

Therefore, it lowers hunger pangs and prevents binge eating. The equation is quite simple – less binge eating leads to less weight gain.
